As opposed to the human eye, which clearly differentiates texture information, such as metallicity and coarseness, and recognizes color, traditional spectrophotometers blend together the color information of the image. As a result, numerical values that are detached from the information actually seen by the human eye are measured.
Compared to the traditional method of accurately capturing color using spectral methods, PaPaLaB’s 2D colorimeters evaluate both the colors and textures of the object. This is a new measurement system that replaces visual inspections performed by experienced inspectors. We introduce examples of utilization of 2D colorimeters.
