An inspection device that can easily inspect and measure color matching and color shifts for adjacent parts without any contact
Identifies and quantifies color changes due to flip-flop also!
Issues with Traditional “Color” Management Methods
Weaknesses of Color Management Using Traditional Colorimeters
1. The range of measurement is narrow
2. Differences seen by the human eye are not discerned well
Other Issues
1. Even when photographing color samples that are standard for traditional cameras, the colors are captured slightly differently from how they are seen
2. The color samples themselves become discolored as time passes
What Paint Color Difference Inspection Device Can Do
Paint Color Difference Inspection Device enables the establishment of objective color management standards!
◎Faithfully input colors, exactly as seen by humans, and reproduce them on the monitor → Reproduction of accurate colors and identification of subtle color differences, which were impossible with traditional cameras
◎Quantification of color data for locations selected on the monitor reproducing the photographed image (XYZ values and Lab values)
◎Measure necessary ranges as a plane (2 dimensional), rather than the narrow ranges of traditional colorimeters
◎Image data can be saved → Contributes to accumulation of color data and realization of traceability → Through data sharing, reduces personal error, which is inevitable for visual inspections, and trouble with client criteria
Characteristics
System Characteristics
・Since the hood and 2D colorimeter comes as a set, measurement of specific locations of automobiles can be performed smoothly.
・Since the lighting is mounted on the measuring head, stable measurement values can be obtained.
・Since a hood is equipped on the measuring part, indoor lights are blocked out, allowing for quantitative values to be measured.
Measuring Part Characteristics
・Evaluation values that are similar to the sensitivity of the human eye for metallic and uneven surfaces
・Since measurement can be performed without any contact, measurement is possible immediately after painting
・By simultaneously recording chromaticity values and a 2D image, data within the monitor’s color gamut range can be accurately reproduced
Features
Analysis of All Objects
・Real-time luminance and chromaticity measurement without any contact
・Implementation of a filter that corresponds to the sensitivity of the human eye → Corresponds to a sensory inspection
・Measurement through easy operation in a short amount of time
・Faithfully reproduce color images, exactly as seen, on a monitor
・Chromaticity accuracy x,y<3/1000 ⊿E<1.0
Because 2D colorimeters can photograph over a wide range without any contact, they can be utilized for the following inspections
①Inspection of color shifts between the bumper and the fender
②Inspection of color shifts between the fender and the front door
③Inspection of uneven coloring and flip-flop on the front door
④・⑤Tighten or widen the range of measurement
Display a graph containing the ⊿E variance and Lab values within the range of measurement. By viewing the color difference (⊿E) from the beginning point, differences in coloring and uneven coloring for different materials can be verified and inspected. Also, through the graphical changes of a and b values, how the colors are changing can be discerned. Inspections that were traditionally performed through visual inspections using boundary samples can now be performed through automated inspections using objective standards.
